These are the foundation of basic NOTARY PUBLIC education in Washington. Every aspiring Washington notary public should become familiar with the Washington Department of Licensing notary website, Washington Notary Public Guide, and the NNA Notary Public Code of Professional Responsibility. Documents are free PDFs available online. I do not own them, but I do refer to them. You must review/study these before we meet for hands-on training. Write down your notary questions and bring them with you.
GAUGE YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND COMFORT:
If the WA notary website, notary manual, & videos are sufficient, maybe you don't need NSA 101 and I wish you the best.
However, the State of Washington urges new notaries to seek training anyway. Especially if you don't understand your role as a notary or how to identify signers or how to correctly perform a notarization.
Law/rules change over time. Notary fees have changed in WA since the notary guide was published in 2018. For example, fees for notarial acts are currently $15, not $10. (WAC 308-30-220 & RCW 42.45)
NSA 101 TRAINING COVERS WET SIGNINGS ONLY. "Wet" means with pen and paper, face to face with documents and signer physically in front of you. NSA 101 does not cover electronic or Remote Online Notarizations (RON). You should learn how to identify signers in person and how to notarize on paper first!
NNA's 10 Notary Public Guiding Principles:

Assumptions: you are 18+, able to read & write English, you have read training materials. We will recap, Q&A, hands-on practice, a final Q&A, then session ends.
