These are the foundation of your notary public education. Every aspiring Washington notary should be familiar with the Washington Dept of Licensing notary website. Documents are free PDFs available online. I do not own them, but I do refer to them. You must read/study these before we meet up for our hands-on practice session.

Law/rules change over time. Notary fees have changed since it Washington published its notary guide in 2018. Fees for notarial acts are currently $15, not $10. See WAC 308-30-220 and RCW 42.45
NSA 101 TRAINING COVERS WET SIGNINGS ONLY. "Wet" means with pen and paper, face to face with documents and signer physically in front of you. NSA 101 training does not cover eNotary or RON. New notaries must learn how to properly identify signers in person and how to perform notarizations on paper first.

- Ensure the signer is competent and willing.
- Verify the identity of the signer.
- Perform duties with care and diligence.
- Keep records of notarial acts.
- Uphold the trust placed in them.
- Refuse to perform illegal or suspicious acts.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Stay informed on the law.

- Printed copy of Washington Notary Public Guide, Notary Public Code of Professional Responsibility, and your Notary Practice Handout
- Notary stamp, if you have one
- Notary questions and any document you have questions about how to notarize
