Your purchase of any product or service or training from NSA 101/Carmen Lane LLC constitutes your agreement and acceptance of all terms and conditions. If you do not agree, do not make purchases or use resources.
NOTE: Effective October 2025, I also offer practical hands-on Intro NOTARY PUBLIC training which assumes you are at least 18 years old, you can read/write/speak English, you can follow instructions, and that you have read/studied the free Washington notary education materials thoroughly before we meet. And that you will write down your notary public questions so that we may address them, if we are meeting for training in person or online. Pretty simple.
My practical hands-on Intro SIGNING AGENT Loan Documents training assumes three things: First, that you are a commissioned and trained notary public with experience performing basic notarizations. Second, that you have a basic understanding of the loan process. And third, that you have successfully completed the mandatory pre-workshop training assignment as instructed before we meet.
PURCHASES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE. If you are contemplating a group or private 1-on-1 training session with me, you are welcome to call me to ask any questions you might have about it first. If you like my hands-on approach, we can move forward. But once you have made a purchase, it becomes 100% non-refundable. (The only exception is that if I must cancel the training due to an unforeseen circumstance (traffic accident, illness, etc.), I will notify you ASAP and of course your purchase will be refunded or training rescheduled, whatever you prefer.) Items purchased in the Store including digital downloads are also non-refundable.
COMMUNICATION IS KEY. When you book training with me, I am setting my time aside for you. You must agree to communicate with me regarding that training session and to provide me at least 24 hours written notice if you must reschedule to another day or time. Even if you are going to be just a few minutes late to our meeting, you must give the courtesy of a phone call (handsfree if you are driving) so that I know what is going on and when to expect you. This is especially true for private and 1-on-1 training. If you book three hours of training with me and you are an hour late, you then have two hours of training remaining. If you are two hours late, you have one hour remaining, and so on. If you do not understand one of my training instructions, you must ask me. If you do not ask questions, I assume you understand. Communication is key in your training and in real life when you begin working as a notary!
YOUR ACTIVE PARTICIPATION IS A CRITICAL PART OF YOUR TRAINING. Mine is definitely a "hands-on" training approach. I learn better by doing. I learn better if I can ask questions. If you do too, then this training can help you. This is especially true for live in-person group sessions and private 1-on-1 sessions. If you want passive training, where you silently listen to a lecture or where you speed click through a programmed notary training online, then my live in-person training and 1-on-1 training may not be a good fit.
CANCELLING/RESCHEDULING ANY LIVE TRAINING SESSION REQUIRES AT LEAST 24 HOURS WRITTEN NOTICE: If you cancel our agreed upon appointment, training, or workshop with at least 24 hours prior written notice, it is possible to reschedule to a different time or a different day, subject to availability. This means you agree to provide me a minimum of 24 hours prior to our scheduled meeting in order to reschedule our training/meeting to a different day, otherwise all fees are forfeit and training shall not be rescheduled.
NO-SHOWS, and SAME-DAY CANCELLATION/RESCHEDULING ON ANY PRE-PAID TRAINING/COACHING APPOINTMENT OR *WITHOUT* AT LEAST 24 HOURS WRITTEN NOTICE: If you cancel (or No-Show) on our agreed upon appointment WITHOUT at least 24 hours prior written notice, that session is cancelled, all fees are forfeit (non-refundable), and the session cannot be rescheduled without incurring additional fees. "NO-SHOW" means that I have arrived prepared to coach you at our previously scheduled and agreed upon meeting time/location and that YOU DID NOT SHOW UP, and neither did I receive any advance notice whatsoever (phone call, text, or email) that you would be late or would not be attending at all. You must let me know even if you are running a few minutes late. I'll do the same. We shall communicate; we will not just leave the other hanging and wondering/worrying or waste the other's time.
IF I MUST CANCEL A TRAINING WORKSHOP DUE TO LACK OF STUDENTS: A minimum of 4 students is needed for the live, in-person group training workshops to help off-set costs if I am renting a meeting space. If fewer than four students are enrolled, it's possible that workshop may be cancelled due to insufficient interest. I will let you know if this happens. If you pre-paid for a seat at a group workshop that ends up being cancelled by me, you will be notified ASAP and of course a full refund will be provided to you. Or you can apply the purchase toward future training if you wish. (If we are meeting at a coffee shop for group training, I will hold the training provided at least one person signs up and shows up.)
RETAIL SALES TAX: Effective Oct 1, 2025 training/live presentations to groups are taxable in Washington. (Groups = more than 1 person.) If receiving group training from me in Olympia, 9.8% tax applies. Tax rates vary county to county, city to city. You can look it up here: https://webgis.dor.wa.gov/taxratelookup/salestax.aspx
A TRAVEL FEE for private or 1-on-1 training applies if I must travel to your location to provide your training. Rate quoted depends on roundtrip travel distance from my door to yours. You can avoid the travel fee by meeting me in Olympia for training. But if you need me to travel to you, we can certainly arrange it. I can drive just about anywhere in Washington, so if you are in a remote area, don't worry --- I have you covered.
PLEASE TEMPER YOUR EXPECTATIONS regarding potential earnings in new business ventures as a notary public or as a notary signing agent. Success takes time; success takes work. Washington Notary Training/Olympia Notary Training/NSA 101/Carmen Lane LLC makes absolutely no promises nor offers any guarantees regarding your own personal success. Do not quit your day job just yet. If you purchase any notary public or notary signing agent training simply because you heard or someone told you it is an easy way to get rich quick (and you believed it), please stop. Get out now. "Success" is highly subjective. My idea of success could be quite different from your idea of success. Any success at all as a notary public or notary signing agent will primarily depend on YOU. It shall require your sincere effort (reading, studying, learning, practicing), your persistence (marketing, networking, and relationship building with potential hiring companies), and definitely your $ investment (licensing, insurance, training, equipment, supplies, etc.) Success as a general notary public depends or as a notary signing agent also depends on YOU. Signing agents must be comfortable negotiating rates with hiring companies to accept your loan signing fee for each assignment. Success can also be affected by external factors beyond your control: mortgage interest rates, housing demand and market conditions, and a healthy or weak economy. These have a very real effect on the notary signing agent business in general. When interest rates are low, more people may want to refinance their homes to a more favorable rate in order to save money. When interest rates go high, the number of refinance assignments for notary signing agents will typically go down. Please do not go into this field expecting it is going to be super easy and/or that you are going to make six figures quickly or at all. That is just not reality. SUCCESS TAKES TIME; SUCCESS TAKES WORK. Due diligence: Take your time to do some career research and compare salaries on a variety of websites (such as Salary.com, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and Ziprecruiter.com, and others) with your own needs/assumptions/expectations.
IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT PROBABLY IS. Don't believe the hype. Have you seen those slick online ads/infomercials with fast talking Internet hucksters trying to lure you with their "proven systems" hinting of potential six figure earnings as a notary? They absolutely infuriate me. All sales people need to be taken with a skeptical eye-rolling grain of salt, especially those smooth talkers and the cool Insta/TikTok influencers online trying to sell you pipe dreams. Please do not buy into the hype. Be especially leery of anyone trying to sell you their proven system. Be leery of anyone making outrageous claims or promises, especially those who promise you will make fast easy money with no effort. Because it's pure BS. Please be skeptical. Being a notary public or a notary signing agent is not the quick easy "side hustle" some people online want you to believe. SUCCESS TAKES TIME. SUCCESS TAKES EFFORT. SUCCESS TAKES WORK. Notary public and especially loan signing work is not something that should be entered into lightly. These roles require you to put forth some real effort. They require your commitment to learning the rules and how to do your job correctly. All notary work carries a great deal of responsibility and the potential of criminal/civil liability. There can be very serious consequences for notary mistakes.
I am a notary who also sells notary public and notary signing agent training, so that makes me a sales person too. I urge you to maintain your intellectual curiosity and a healthy skepticism. My father would call it being business savvy, or keeping our eyes wide open. I do not push my notary or loan documents training onto anyone. Nor do I insist or pretend that every prospective notary or notary signing agent in Washington (or any other state) needs the kind of training I offer. Maybe you need it. Maybe you don't. Maybe you want to read the free notary training materials Washington provides and figure the rest out for yourself. If that is you, fine. You must gauge your comfort level yourself at each step and then decide for yourself whether you feel you will benefit from my hands-on approach to learning. If you decide that you need me, I am here. If you prefer to do it all on your own, there are currently no laws stopping you and so I wish you the best.
CONTINUE THAT HEALTHY SKEPTICISM WHEN YOU DO BECOME A NOTARY PUBLIC OR NOTARY SIGNING AGENT. Because new notaries who are too naïve and too trusting make easy targets for scammers. This is especially true for inexperienced and untrained notaries.
Opinions are my own. I am not a legal, financial, title, or real estate professional. If you feel like there is a conflict between anything Olympia Notary Training/Washington Notary Training/NSA 101/Carmen Lane LLC says or suggests in training and what the law in your state says, follow your state law. Always, always, always follow the law.
Thank you for reading. If you agree to these terms and conditions and if you can approach your hands-on notary public and notary signing agent training session prepared and with both feet grounded firmly in reality, then I believe we can work very well together. Otherwise let us wish each other well and move on.
